**** April 2, 2025 Update -The Bellevue Loop Trail closure has been extended to May 9, 2025. The original closure was a result of a failed sewer manhole, located south of Capehart Rd., that required removal and significant repairs. While the repairs were underway, additional pipe damage and obstructions were observed within the South Papio Interceptor Sewer, which required the schedule to be extended to April 18, 2025. In order to return the Sewer Interceptor to service safely, this latest extension of the trail closure became necessary upon further assessment of the damage, coordination of the repairs, and the additional delay caused by the recent blizzard..***
The City of Omaha has announced that a portion of the Bellevue Loop Trail, starting at the south trail entrance at Highway 370, southeast to the trail entrance at South 13th Street (including the trail entrances at Capehart Road) will be closed from January 1st, 2025, through April 18th, 2025. The purpose of this closure is to allow for the replacement of a South Papio Interceptor Sewer manhole located south of Capehart Road. For the safety of the construction workers as well as pedestrian and bike traffic, this portion of the trail will be closed during the duration of the construction period. The remainder of the Bellevue Loop Trail will remain open to pedestrian and bike traffic during the construction period. "Trail Closed Ahead" signs will warn trail traffic of the closure and orange construction fence will close off the construction area(s). As always, please be extremely careful near construction areas and do not enter closed off areas.”
Capehart roadway lanes are not anticipated to be closed fully, rather potentially used for material delivery on a short term basis.
