Notes from the July 29, 2025 Public Information Meeting:

Over 50 people turned out for the Public Information Meeting regarding the upcoming Mission Avenue Reconstruction & Streetscape Improvement Project

The project involves removal and reconstruction of the existing roadway, sidewalk, and sewers along Mission Ave from Wayne to Warren, on Franklin from Mission to 22nd Ave, on Warren from Mission to 22nd Ave, and on 22nd Ave from Warren east to the existing sanitary sewer lift station. Streetscaping enhancements will be installed along Mission Ave from Washington to Main and along Franklin from Mission to 22nd Ave.

A copy of the slides and displays that were presented today are included in this post: Benesch has designed and is overseeing the project. Here are few notes and highlights from Benesch’s Senior Vice President Jeff Sockel’s brief presentation to those in attendance. (The renderings included are descriptive of different angles of Mission Avenue and Jefferson)

*Project is scheduled to begin August 18th on the east end of the work area near the lift station on 22nd. The project is anticipated to be completed by Fall 2026

*Valley Corporation will be the Contractor

*The main goal of the project is to repair/replace the aging sanitary sewer system in this area.

*While repairing/replacing the sewer system in these areas, the goal is to give the whole area a refreshed and aesthetically pleasing look while making the area more pedestrian and business friendly.

*Parallel parking will be changed to diagonal parking on many areas of Mission Avenue

*The initial focus will be on the sanitary sewer improvements. Most of that work on Mission Avenue will take place in the middle of the road so traffic will be able to flow through on both sides. Notice will be given on any road closures or detours

*Elevated intersections will improve the look of the area and help reduce speeding traffic on Mission Avenue

*The 2025 Arrows to Aerospace Parade will not be affected by this project. Other Mission Avenue events such as the Olde Towne Trick or Treat, Veterans Parade and Olde Town Pub Crawl are still be planned for and will be adjusted if needed

*Further Questions or concerns can be emailed to missionave@benesch.com
