Have you had an unexpected interruption of your income due to an unforeseen emergency? Have you used all your personal financial resources and still unable to make ends meet for your utilities, rent, or groceries?
The City of Bellevue Human Services Department takes applications for assistance for Bellevue residents. Assistance is provided by charitable donations and food drives in the community.
Appointments to apply for assistance can be made by calling 293-3138, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30pm. All applicants must provide proof of residency using proper identification.
Financial Aid donations can be made out to the Bellevue Ministerial Emergency Fund. These funds are utilized to help residents in crisis with utility bills or rental assistance.
A special fund that assists adults and the elderly to purchase medication or help with a utility bill is called the BMA Adult Crisis Fund. Donations to this fund can be mailed to the ENCAP office at 1908 Hancock St. Bellevue.
Bellevue residents in need of the food assistance can call 293-3138 to make an appointment to receive a food pantry referral. Once a referral is obtained, the food bags can be picked up from the local distribution site from 10:00am – 4:00pm; Monday – Friday. The pantry can provide non perishable food items and vouchers for perishable food items to be used at the grocery store as much as the donations/guidelines can allow.
Sarpy County families who have children 12 years of age and under and meet low income guidelines, can apply for assistance with receiving new toys for their children. Applications are taken each year in early November. The sign up dates are advertised throughout the community and school newsletters. This program is coordinated by a committee of members representing numerous human service agencies in Sarpy County.
Are you elderly or disabled? Do you need transportation to and from a doctors appointment, grocery shopping or the Senior Activity Center? The City of Bellevue has a Specialized Transportation Bus Service that may be help you with your transportation needs.
The bus picks you up at your door and takes you to the door of where your going and brings you home again. You must call in advance to pre-register and schedule a reservation for a ride on the bus. We schedule trips to Omaha and Bellevue destinations Monday through Friday.
The cost per trip is $2.00 each way for in town trips and $4.00 for out of town trips.
