Due to recent questions and comments concerning the Daniell Trail in the Two Springs area, Bellevue Mayor Rita Sanders and Parks Department Superintendent Brian Madison visited the area earlier this week and conducted a walk-thru risk assessment of the current state of the trail. After careful inspection it has been determined that the Daniell Trail will continue to be closed to public access until further notice!
The efforts of the volunteers from the Two Springs neighborhood that cut and removed tree debris from the trail was very noticeable and is much appreciated by Mayor Sanders and the City of Bellevue. However, there are many loose limb hangers that still remain atop the trees and many of the trees that overhang and abut the trail have internal stresses and irreparable damage at the root base which currently makes this area unsafe for public access. This is why the City has made the decision to keep the trail closed temporarily until all of the damage from the June tornado is cleared out. The City of Bellevue Parks Department has started the clean-up in this area and will continue to be in the area for many months to come to complete the process.
If you have any questions regarding the cleanup of this area please contact Bellevue Parks Department Superintendent Brian Madison at 402-682-6618 or by email at brian.madison@bellevue.net
