The City of Bellevue's Public Works Department has issued the following update regarding the traffic signals at Ft Crook Rd. and Childs Rd.:
As you may know, high winds from the July 31st storm cracked the light pole fixtures at the four-way intersection of Ft Crook Road and Childs Road. This created a safety hazard, so the City removed those light fixture the night of the storm. Since then, the City has partnered with a traffic engineering firm to devise temporary and permanent solutions for this intersection.
The City and the engineering firm determined it will take up to nine months to install necessary infrastructure to replace what was damaged at this intersection. The City is pursuing this permanent solution. In the meantime, the City and its engineering firm have been looking for a company to provide temporary lights to alleviate the traffic backups at this intersection. Due to the high demand for lights throughout the region, finding a company was not a simple task. The City, however, has found one and locating crews will be marking the area soon for installation of these temporary lights. The Bellevue Public Works Department estimates these lights should be up and running in no more than 10 days. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we work together to repair the damage caused by the storm.
