Bellevue City Council Authorizes Negotiations for Open Data Portal Provider

The Bellevue City Council authorized Bellevue Administrators to begin negotiations with Socrata to become Bellevue’s Open Data portal provider at its June 13th meeting. The OpenData initiative was discussed during the city’s 2016 strategic planning session and identified as a strategic initiative. This Open Data portal is intended to meet the City of Bellevue’s transparency goals, assist with citizen information requests, enhance economic development and potentially much more.

Bellevue Councilwoman Carol Blood who led the efforts for this information tool with Assistant City Administrator Larry Burks and the City's Technology Committee , envisions this Open Data portal functioning as a community research resource as well as a tool to save staff time and increase organizational efficiency.

The Bellevue City Council will vote on approval of the contract with Socrata once terms are negotiated with implementation of the portal to follow.
