Beginning Monday, April 18, weather permitting, there will be extended lane and loop closures along northbound and southbound U.S. Highway 75 (US-75) at the
Nebraska Highway 370 (N-370) interchange. This will allow for bridge repairs and modification of the median for turn movements. Additionally, US-75 at Chandler Road will have extended lane closures along the northbound and southbound lanes for bridge repairs. Construction and closures are anticipated to be complete by fall 2022.
On-loops from N-370 to US-75 will be closed beginning Monday, April 18 through fall 2022. Lane closures will occur in two phases and will begin and end approximately 0.4 miles from either end of the US-75/N-370 interchange and the US-75/Chandler Road interchange. During phase one, the outside lane of US-75 will be closed for approximately two months, followed by phase two where the inside lane of US-75 will be closed for approximately two months. A zipper merge will be utilized at both interchanges during this time to maintain traffic flow.
Zipper merges will be enforced throughout the construction area. Contrary to a traditional merge, the zipper merge ensures drivers use both lanes of traffic until reaching the merge point, at which point they take turns merging into the open lane in a “zipper” fashion. The zipper merge is not only safer, but it also allows traffic to continually flow. Click Here for more information on zipper merges.
