Bellevue, NE — The City of Bellevue and the Bellevue Community Foundation are teaming up this Halloween season to support local families in need with a quick but essential “Scare Away Hunger” Food Drive — and they’re calling on the entire Bellevue community to help!
Residents are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items or monetary donations now through 1:00 PM on Friday, October 31, at either of the following convenient locations:
All donations will go directly to the Bellevue Food Bank, serving families in the Bellevue and Offutt communities who are struggling due to recent events. Suggested donation items include canned proteins (such as tuna, chicken, or beans), pasta, peanut butter, cereal, baby food, and even pet food.
To make giving a little sweeter, everyone who donates can enter to win two tickets to the Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. USC Trojans football game in Lincoln on Saturday evening. The tickets are generously provided by Nebraska State Senator Rita Sanders, and the prize drawing will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, October 31.
Mayor Rusty Hike and Senator Rita Sanders kicked off the drive over the lunch hour, encouraging all Bellevue residents to take part.
“This community always shows up when neighbors are in need,” said Mayor Hike. “Let’s make sure no Bellevue family goes hungry this Halloween.”
“A small act of giving can make a huge difference,” added Senator Sanders. “Together, we can help fill shelves — and hearts — across Bellevue.”
The “Scare Away Hunger” drive is a reminder that even in spooky season, Bellevue’s compassion shines brighter than any Halloween fright.
