The Papio-Missouri River NRD has announced that it is in the last stages of the Big Papio Levee Culverts Phase 2 project and the only culverts that still need to be rehabilitated are BP-L15A and B. These twin 30” CMP pipes are located downstream of Cornhusker Road and upstream of the Keystone Trail Bridge over Big Elk Creek. A portion of these culverts will be rehabbed with sliplining and the remainder will be removed and replaced.
Due to the scope of the work involved, the existing trail will be completely removed in this work area along with most of the levee. The contractor will be posting trail closure signage up on the north side of Cornhusker and near the Keystone Trail bridge over Big Elk Creek Creek since there will be no way for trail users to “bypass” the construction area and get around the work.
The work on this project is expected to start on Monday, October 19th and is expected to be completed before December 1st if weather permits. (update...Closure has been extended through December 15th) Please do not move or otherwise tamper with barricades or other warning devices in the area. Please contact the Bellevue Public Works Department at 402-293-3025 if you have any additional questions.
