Did you know that each July Fourth, thousands of people, most often children and teens, are injured while using consumer fireworks and that over 80% of emergency room fireworks injuries involve fireworks which are legal to use to use. The City of Bellevue is hoping that everyone has a safe and Happy 4th of July and reminds you to be extremely careful when using fireworks and follow these safety tips.

Stay away from illegal or homemade fireworks.

Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks.

Fireworks are not toys. Even sparklers can cause burns.

Have a garden hose and bucket filled with water handy in case of malfunction or fire.

Never shoot fireworks off in metal or glass containers.

Only light fireworks on a smooth, flat surface away from the house, dry leaves and flammable materials.

Do not try to relight fireworks that malfunction.
