After an intensive two-day search of the rugged terrain at Fontenelle Forest, searchers located the body of 72-year-old Roger Hildebrandt late Wednesday afternoon, December 24. Authorities announced the conclusion of the search at that time but withheld additional details out of respect for the family and until all family members could be notified.
The City of Bellevue, the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Bellevue Police and Fire Departments, extend our condolences and thoughts to Mr. Hildebrandt’s friends and loved ones.
The City of Bellevue would also like to thank the men and women of the Bellevue Fire Department, Bellevue Police Department, Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, Louisville Township Fire Department, Sarpy County Emergency Management, Papillion Fire Department, Offutt Fire Department, La Vista Police Department, Omaha Police Department, as well as members of the Fontenelle Forest Hiking Club and additional assisting agencies for their dedication and efforts during this search.
It has been determined that there is no threat to the public related to this case, and there will be no further statements from the City of Bellevue.
