Due to controlled prairie fires in Kansas, a south wind that is helping our temperatures rise and the lack of rain in our area recently, that smoky haze you see throughout the city has caused an Air Quality Index to be rated in the “unhealthy” category this morning in our area. Due to the air quality and in the interest of the safety of the students and staff, Bellevue Public Schools will be keeping everyone inside today. These sort of conditions can cause breathing problems for anyone but be especially careful today if you have any lung related health issues. Here is a good article from the Omaha World Herald that explains the situation in more detail. http://www.omaha.com/news/metro/smoky-haze-from-kansas-fires-hangs-over-the-omaha-area/article_2b5216b8-0224-11e6-91e4-07989ac15385.html
