It is Fireworks season in Bellevue and this year 20 non-profit organizations that serve Bellevue have recieved applications to sell fireworks within the city limits!  The Bellevue City Council voted last year to change the City Code to allow for fireworks approved by the State of Nebraska to be sold and set off June 25th through July 3rd  only between the hours of 8:00 a..m. and 10:00 p.m. and on July 4th from 8:00 a.m. to midnight. Any debris caused by the discharge of fireworks MUST BE properly disposed of by the user.  The City of Bellevue asks all residents to be safe and respectful of your neighbors during this season!!

Did you know that each July Fourth, thousands of people, most often children and teens, are injured while using consumer fireworks and that over 80% of emergency room fireworks injuries involve fireworks which are legal to use to use. The City of Bellevue is hoping that everyone has a safe and Happy 4th of July and reminds you to be extremely careful when using fireworks and follow these safety tips.

Stay away from illegal or homemade fireworks.

Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks.

Fireworks are not toys. Even sparklers can cause burns.

Have a garden hose and bucket filled with water handy in case of malfunction or fire.

Never shoot fireworks off in metal or glass containers.

Only light fireworks on a smooth, flat surface away from the house, dry leaves and flammable materials.

Do not try to relight fireworks that malfunction.
