City will Begin Contract Negotiations for the Position Soon

City Council Unanimously Approves Joe Mangiamelli's Appointment to Serve as Bellevue's City Administrator

The Bellevue City Council voted unanimously tonight to approve Mayor Rita Sanders appointment of Joe Mangiamelli to serve as Bellevue's City Administrator. The City of Bellevue will now begin contract negotiations with Mr. Mangiamelli for the position which will also determine his start date. 

Mayor Sanders commented, “I am extremely happy that the City Council voted unanimously this evening to approve Mr. Mangiamelli’s appointment and I am thrilled to have a person with his experience , integrity and trust working with all of us as we move the City of Bellevue forward.”

Mr. Mangiamelli has served as the City Administrator for the City of Columbus, Nebraska since 2005 and has close to 40 years of experience in various City Government positions in Nebraska. Prior to his appointment as City Administrator in Columbus, Mr. Mangiamelli held several positions for the City of Omaha, including Engineering Services Manager, Director of Administrative Services and Executive Assistant to the Mayor. Mr. Mangiamelli has a wealth of experience of policy making, interaction with elected officials, labor negotiations and administrative oversight of City Government operations. He also has a strong background in public safety including his time in Omaha where he served as the Mayor’s Liaison for Police, Fire and 911 Emergency Communications Departments. Joe is very familiar with Bellevue and Sarpy County. He has previously served on the Sarpy County and Bellevue Planning Commissions as well as Bellevue’s Solid Waste Task Force.

Mangiamelli received an Honorable Discharge for his service in the Army during the Vietnam War. After his Military Service he earned both a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Nebraska - Omaha. He is a member of the International City Management Association and is on the League of Nebraska Municipalities, Larger City Legislative Committee. Joe also has served as President of the Nebraska City Management Association and his experience in Economic Development for Municipalities and Public Infrastructure will be an asset for Bellevue.
