The City of Bellevue’s Fire Department held a Badge Presentation Ceremony for 25 members of the class of 2017 on Friday afternoon at the Bellevue Fire Training Site. This the second class of full-time fire fighters for the Bellevue Fire Department since they began the transition to a paid Department. Bellevue Fire Chief Perry Guido said that, “this group of firefighters that we will recognize today, along with the previous hire class, represent the building blocks of the Bellevue Fire Department that will help set the tone and culture for many years to come.”
Bellevue Mayor Rita Sanders, joined City Administrator Joe Mangiamelli, members of the Bellevue City Council and ranking members of the Bellevue Fire Department in offering encouragement and best wishes to this years class. Mayor Sanders pointed out that, “The men and women of the Bellevue Fire Department are extremely important to our community. They perform a very dangerous job in order that the citizens of Bellevue are protected from a variety of dangers. They are the first to be called in all sorts of emergencies and as our world continues to change and become more dangerous, they are adapting and ever increasing their roles in area’s involving acts of terrorism and violence. Additionally they protect us through their fire prevention efforts.”
