It’s Arrows to Aerospace weekend in Bellevue! It is the 54th anniversary of this annual celebration that culminates with the parade on Mission Avenue and various family-friendly events at Washington Park on Saturday, August 16th. The City of Bellevue would like to thank all the members of the Bellevue-Offutt Kiwanis Club for organizing and coordinating this celebration again this year, as they have done for the past 37 years.
The parade typically draws thousands of Bellevue residents and starts this Saturday, August 16th, at 10am. The route starts near St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School at the ‘top’ of Mission Avenue and runs down to Washington Park, taking a left at the intersection of Franklin and Mission. Currently, there are over 80 entries, and they will compete for various prizes which will be awarded by a panel of three judges including Rebecca Zurcher, owner of Erwin’s Jewelers Co; Colonel Chad Backes, 55th Wing Deputy Commander, Offutt Air Force Base; and Sue Fjelstad, Bellevue Public Schools Coordinator of EL and Public Health, celebrating 35 years in BPS this year..
Congratulations to Bellevue Fire Chief Perry Guido, who has been selected to be the Grand Marshal of this year’s parade. According to the Bellevue Times, “His many years of experience helped him when Bellevue was required to change from a volunteer staff to a part-time paid staff, then to full-time paid staff.
