Nebraska Labor Commissioner Announces Mobile Workforce Center to be Available in Bellevue for Workers Impacted by Floods

LINCOLN -  Nebraska Labor Commissioner John H. Albin announced today that a mobile computer lab will be available next week for workers impacted by the flooding.  The State of Kansas has donated its KANSASWORKS Mobile Workforce Center for stops in Bellevue, Fremont, Valley and Plattsmouth April 16-19. Nebraska Department of Labor (NDOL) unemployment insurance claims specialists and employment specialists will be stationed in the workforce center at each location to assist with claims for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) and job searching.

“We are grateful to the State of Kansas and the workforce center’s operator for stepping up to aid Nebraska workers,” said Commissioner of Labor John H. Albin.  “We recognize that not all workers have access to a computer or internet due to their current circumstances, and we look forward to providing assistance during this time of transition.”

The 38-foot mobile computer lab is equipped with 10 computer stations, which can be used for unemployment insurance claim filing, searching for jobs, and obtaining labor market information.  Those who come to the lab are encouraged to log on to NEworks.nebraska.gov.  Claims can also be filed with smartphones and tablets.  A free NEworks mobile job search app is available.

The unit will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.  Individuals should look for a bus displaying the KANSASWORKS logo.
