Earth Day in Bellevue is Sunday, April 13th at Bellevue University

Green Bellevue announced “Earth Day in Bellevue” is this Sunday, April 13th at Bellevue University Symposium Room (B level) in the John B. Muller Administration Building, from 12pm - 4pm. 

“Since Green Bellevue was initiated by our Mayor in 2009, we have been educating, advocating and mobilizing volunteers to take individual and local actions that foster a healthy environment,” said Green Bellevue President, Ruth Richter. “That’s what celebrating Earth Day is all about.”

There is an EPS Styrofoam collection by Plastilite, Clothing Swap, orange bag giveaway, face painting, a raffle, scavenger hunt and more!  Highlights include:

  • Exhibits by ~30 local environment groups, including several Native and Food gardening experts, the City of Bellevue Waste Diversion, Public Works and Bellevue Tree Board.
  • Five high school green clubs are exhibiting. There is a clothing swap hosted by Omaha Students for Sustainability, Omaha South promotes mail box gardens.
  • Bellevue Bee City USA committee’s debut of the new Bellevue Pollinator Habitat sign and will be taking reservations. They are also promoting that Green Bellevue is giving away free native plants at the Bellevue Farmers Market again this summer,
  • The Big Garden presents at 12pm on “Small Space Gardening” - the first 25 attendees at the session will receive a free vegetable plants and seeds to start your garden,
  • Hillside Solutions presents at 2pm on the Compost Club, an option for accessing commercial composting drop off sites in Bellevue with a drawing for a free year of composting.
