Paul was elected to the Bellevue City Council in November 2012, after serving as a Sarpy County Commissioner from 2005-2008.  Paul was elected as the City Council President in 2015, 2019. 2021, 2022, and 2023.  Paul is a member of the Audit Committee, Board of Health, Budget Task Force, Design Standards Review Board, Knight of Columbus, and the Offutt Advisory Council.

Paul is a life-long Nebraska resident and has lived in the Bellevue area for over five decades.  His parents and family moved to Bellevue when Paul was 3 years old.  Paul attended St. Mary's School, Logan Fontenelle Middle School, and he graduated from Bellevue (East) High School.  He received his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Paul retired as a Captain form the Omaha Police Department, and worked in many departments throughout his career.  He is currently employed as a Security Contractor in the metropolitan area.

Paul and his wife, Anita, have been married for 33 years and have two children, Megan and Daniel.
