Annual Memorial Day Observance to be Held at Bellevue Cemetery at 11am on May 28th

Event date: 5/28/2018 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Export event

Once again, Bellevue honors its deceased veterans with the annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Bellevue Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on May 28. The cemetery is located at Franklin St. & 13th Ave. off Bellevue Blvd.

This ceremony honors the men and women and their families who have courageously fought for our country throughout our history. Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 10785 conducts the ceremony every year.

In addition to the traditional VFW Memorial Day ceremony, the Sarpy Serenaders will perform patriotic songs, including a medley of the songs of the military services. Participants also include the Gold Star Wives and VFW Auxiliary. Individual military services are honored with the presentation of each service’s flag. The ceremony concludes with a rifle salute and Echo Taps, performed by Kim and Carly Ingraham, who recently performed Echo Taps at The International’s Military Appreciation night.

O’Donnell added that the ceremony’s breadth offers a wonderful educational opportunity for parents and grandparents to teach young people. “I think every parent or grandparent ought to have their whole family at the ceremony – lessons of a lifetime can be taught in one short hour,” he added.

Thank you to VFW Post 10785  for hosting this annual ceremony. The Post is dedicated to helping veterans and their families and meets on the second Monday of every month at the Bellevue University Military Students Service Center.
